Urban Scout’s annual Nuclear Winter Formal feels like a prophetic vision, now that Portland recently played host to a nuclear bomb terror drill. With media hype and military drills, the threat of nuclear warfare has risen again to the forefronts of our imaginations and reminded us of our worst fears! There is only one thing we can do…

…Dance Party!!! Most people might poo-poo you with doom and gloom visions of the future but we say, why fear it? Why not celebrate it? Hell, why not take it a step further and prepare for it by celebrating before it actually happens? We are Mythmedia and this is Preemptive Post-apocalypticism. The annual Nuclear Winter Formal is a celebration of the end of civilization and the beginning of something cooler. We facilitate a multi-media glimpse of a post apocalyptic world, conceptualized by local artists. Hosted by the infamous local “celebrity anarchist,” Urban Scout.

DJ’s:
Dance away all that pre-post-traumatic stress to the awesome beats of DJ Copy, DJ Kiss and Tell, and others.

Fashion:
A post-apocalyptic costume contest, judged by local fashionistas Marjorie Skinner (Portland Mercury), Charlotte LaVictoire (ULTRA PDX) and Shawn Deller (Shaun Deller Hats). The winners will receive prizes! You know, like gas masks, Mad Max dvds, survival kits… that kind of stuff!

Film:
This year we introduce our 30 minutes of non-stop apocalyptic short films.

Photos:
What kind of Formal doesn’t have a place for you and your date to get photos? Not ours! Get your photo taken in front of a beautiful cityscape of a post-apocalyptic Portland for you and your date to document this exciting time in human history.

Installation, Performance, Education:
As Usual, Urban Scout will be teaching post-apocalyptic survival skills throughout the night, as well as building an “educational installation” on the process of rewilding which, includes his renown “Make-out Tipi!” (…To increase biological immunities, of course!)

Are you ready for Urban Scout’s third annual Nuclear Winter Formal? If not, then hurry and get a costume, a date and come to the party that has already made post-history. If you’re not excited about the fall of civilization now, you’re a poseur.
