Week29: Another Drop in the Bucket

You guessed it, much of the same as last week. Not much to report on… only more in Molalla this time.

I started off by taking my drive-shaft to a drive-line service to have it rebuilt. Than I decided to get to the bottom of the power-steering leak. I tried to crane my neck to get a better look, but without pulling the whole damn pump out, I couldn’t see shit… So I pulled the whole damn pump out:

It took me all day to figure out how to get that fucking thing out of there, but the whole time, even as my face and arms became covered in black car grease, I had a smile on my face. Working on cars involves problem solving; using the tools you have available and figuring out how to get those tools in just the right spot so you can take the part out. My neck muscles felt shaky and weak after lying under the moho looking up into the engine all day long. It felt nice. It even gave me the excuse to wear my post-apocalyptic jump suit:

I received this jump suit for modeling (back in 2003) for my friend Adam Arnold (who also stars in The Adventures of Urban Scout as himself). So then I modeled for another local designer, Bonnie Heart Clyde, who focuses on free-hand embroidery. In trade she put radioactive symbols on the back of the jumpsuit for me.

I got to working on my camo-wool jacket some more. My mother assists me most of the time since I don’t have a great idea about sewing, but we both became frustrated over the directions given in the pattern I bought. She blames the whole pattern company Burda, because it comes from France or some shit and the directions never translate well. I hope to get the jacket done in time for my IgnitePortland power-point, with I also worked on a lot since the due date came today! Due dates… Ha!

During the later half of the week I noticed another leak in my moho, even with the tarp covering the whole top. I climbed up and saw that a large pool sat trapped in the tarp where the roof railings attach and a sharp part of the railing had torn a hole in the tarp, right near the pool of water. Yikes! I got that fixed and than last night the air-conditioner started leaking again! With the fucking tarp! I climbed back up and saw that the air-conditioner had also torn a hole in the tarp! The wind here blows insanely fast, and so the friction must have caused it. I stayed up until 2 in the morning trying to figure out what to do and in the end, I just put some buckets underneath the dripping. Lucky for me Monday and Tuesday will allegedly have no rain, and mostly sun…

I did a lot of online searching for natural areas that may provide good foraging, such as the Molalla River Corridor and Table Rock Wilderness. I worked on several chapters of my “book” or “zine” or whatever the you want to call it. That about sums up my week.

  1. This just came to me in my dream. If you want a skylight to replace that fan thingie you had. You’ll need an expanding foam in a can, 2 plastic windows, and a bottle of epoxy glue. And a flimsy saw or knife. Fill the space inside between the 2 layer of the roof on the inside rim with foam so to insulate and prevent cold air from passing through. YOu can use this to fill the holes in your roof as well. With the knife, cut the excess foam flush to the ceiling otherwise you;ll have a brainy looking mounds. They should be water proofed. For the skylight. Use the epoxy glue around the square, then stick the measured plastic on it. Do this on the inside and top of the roof as well, then maybe you can chulk around the edges for extra preventave leakage from rain? This is the best and cheaper idea I can think of. They all are real cheap and you can get all three for like less than 15 dollars? I hope this helps!
