W50: New Year, New Look

First off, Boris… Thank you so much for your generous tip! You really saved my ass this month. SO thank you thank you thank you. Please people, don’t feel shy to drop me some dough. 😉

Week 50 Laundry List:

1. Make awesome plan with my mom for the yard, post plan on site.

I did this and I will post a concept/map of our plan this week. I transplanted some wild nettles from the Molalla Corridor into a pot and brought them home. I hope they survive. I also potted some rhizomes of sun chokes that friends gave me at the last wild foods potluck we had. I will plant those somewhere too.

2. Continue begging for a job at One Green World.

Still begging…

3. Work on book, post new chapter… if not completely depressed.

I got two chapters posted! Though lacking in some areas and redundant in others, I feel pretty good about them.

4. No coffee for the whole week!

Achieved! But I did have some chocolate that totally fucked me up! I seem to have my usual non-paleo diet spring sinus problem. I need to quit corn again, but I don’t think I will.

5. Paint interior of the moho.

Totally forgot about this one.

6. Make beef jerky for Penny Scout to take with her to work.

Flaked on that too.

You may notice the site changed quite a bit this last week. I ended up spending lots of time online and on my computer making graphics, researching more information about blogs and plugins and all kinds of silly computer things that will hopefully have no relevance to my life in 10 years. I decided to update the site because I realized I think of the site as my exhibition place for my work, and yet I had really no way for people to navigate through it. I plan to write some artist grants and want to really have everything in one spot and I think this new design works in my favor… So I hope you like it!

Alright:

1. Make Beef Jerky for Penny Scout to take to work.

4. Begin garden plans.

5. Harvest more nettles.

  1. I’ve been making a bunch of jerky lately, and I’ve found that a couple of ingredients you can probably find in the eastern foods part of supermarkets are really great in jerky. Chili paste and fish sauce add a lot of great flavor. Also, if you’re going to use black pepper I thoroughly recommend the freshly ground stuff.

  2. Scout…I want to donate but i dont use any financial institutions so you’ll have to come get it at gardenripe if your passing through. could also through some grub your way as well. ps bring one of those sweet hats.

  3. Yea, you should check out recipezaar.com for ideas. It’s great for finding tons of recipe ideas no matter what you’re making. I went there a few months ago when I started making jerky again and looked at what other people were doing. Of course, I didn’t follow a single recipe, but they still helped.
